Pair of Late 19th Century French Brass Two-Arm Wall Sconces, Circa 1890
Pair of Late 19th Century French Brass Two-Arm Wall Sconces, Circa 1890
SKU:CN2841025-077.1
Circa 1890.
A matched pair of richly modeled late 19th-century French wall sconces crafted in solid brass, each featuring two scrolling candle arms and exuberant Rococo Revival acanthus detailing. The sconces display deep, high-relief casting throughout, with pronounced curvature and crisp leaf work characteristic of quality French metalwork of the period.
This pair was personally sourced by us in the Var region of Southern France, an area long associated with fine decorative arts and architectural ornament. Both sconces retain a warm, naturally aged patina, with consistent surface tone and wear across the pair.
Originally designed for candles and later adapted for early electrification, the sconces present beautifully today and may be rewired to modern standards if desired.
A striking and decorative lighting pair well-suited for traditional, European, or eclectic interiors.
Available through DOP Antiques. Please inquire for condition details and wiring options.
