18th Century French Provincial Walnut Buffet à Deux Corps
Circa: 1760.
An authentic 18th century French provincial walnut buffet à deux corps, crafted in the Renaissance tradition circa 1760.
This striking two-part cabinet features fluted columns, paneled doors, and a decorative frieze with carved winged cherub heads beneath a projecting cornice. The architectural design reflects the enduring influence of the Henri II Renaissance style commonly found in provincial French furniture.
Constructed from solid walnut with pine secondary woods, the piece retains hand-cut dovetail drawers and early joinery details. The cabinet separates into two sections for easier transport and installation.
Its 62-inch width offers a more versatile scale than many large French buffets, making it ideal for dining rooms, living spaces, or entryways.
A beautiful example of early French craftsmanship with rich patina developed over centuries.
