Pair of 19th Century French Louis XVI Style Caned Bergère Armchairs
Circa: 1880–1900.
A charming pair of late 19th century French Louis XVI style bergère armchairs featuring hand-carved beechwood frames with fluted legs, carved rosettes, and a decorative laurel garland apron.
The chairs retain their original double caning with both caned seats and backs, giving them a light and elegant profile typical of French neoclassical seating. The frames show a warm natural patina developed over time, highlighting the detailed carving and craftsmanship.
Scrolled arms are fitted with later green leather arm pads secured with decorative nailheads, adding both comfort and character. These chairs work beautifully as occasional chairs, desk seating, or accent chairs in a living room or bedroom.
