Buffet

Circa: 1780.

An authentic 18th century French Provincial buffet from the Provence region, likely the Avignon area, dating to circa 1780. Crafted from solid walnut, the piece features classic Louis XV–inspired curves including molded serpentine door panels, a shaped drawer front, and a scalloped apron supported by simple cabriole feet.

Traditional construction details such as hand-cut dovetail joinery in the drawer and pegged mortise-and-tenon framing reflect its late 18th century craftsmanship. The buffet retains its original iron hardware and escutcheons, adding to its authentic character.

A single wide drawer sits above two paneled cabinet doors that open to a spacious interior for storage. The natural washed patina highlights the walnut grain and gives the piece a warm, aged character that works beautifully in both traditional and modern interiors.

Good antique condition consistent with age and use. Surface wear, marks, and scattered inactive wormholes are present. The finish has been stripped at some point, leaving a natural patina that highlights the wood grain. Minor separation visible along the plank top and general wear to edges and corners. Drawer and doors operate properly and the structure is solid.
