Pair of Early 19th Century French Hand-Hammered Copper Jam Pots
Circa: 1860.
A beautiful pair of early 19th century French hand-hammered copper jam pots with iron bail handles.
Originally used in provincial farmhouse kitchens for making preserves and cooking over hearth fires, these rustic copper vessels display the character and craftsmanship of traditional European cookware. The hammered copper bodies show rich natural patina developed over nearly two centuries of use, while the forged iron handles allow them to be easily carried or hung over a fire.
The interiors retain traces of their original tin lining, a traditional feature used to protect food from direct contact with copper when cooking.
Today these versatile antique vessels make wonderful decorative pieces and are often used as planters, firewood buckets, or statement kitchen décor.
