Terms of Service

How buying works at DOP Antiques — one-of-a-kind pieces, in-stock Editions, special made-to-order pieces you can buy online, regional delivery estimates and the condition language we hold ourselves to.

Agreement to these terms

By browsing this site, creating an account or placing an order, you agree to the terms on this page. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms are maintained by DOP Antiques and apply to both of our inventory lines: One-of-a-Kind antiques and DOP Editions.

One-of-a-Kind availability

A singular antique exists in a quantity of one. Availability is live: a piece can sell between the moment you view its page and the moment you reach checkout, and the first completed order takes it. Adding a piece to your cart does not reserve it.

A hold is a request, not a reservation. A piece stays available for sale until our team confirms your hold in writing.

If a piece sells while your order is in flight, or if we discover an error in its listing, we may cancel the order and refund you in full. That is the only remedy in those circumstances.

DOP Editions

DOP Editions are newly made, handcrafted production models. In-stock Editions and made-to-order Editions can both be purchased on this site. For a made-to-order piece, the production lead time varies by model and finish and is confirmed with you after checkout.

Requests that are not a listed product — unspecified customization, special finishes and bulk or wholesale project orders — are confirmed through a separate written quote or invoice. The lead time, deposit, cancellation, freight and return terms stated in that document govern the order.

Because Editions are hand-made, minor variation in grain, patina, finish depth, hardware and dimensions is expected between examples and between an example and its photographs. That variation is a property of the work, not a defect.

Pricing and payment

Prices, currency, taxes and availability are governed by our commerce platform and are confirmed at checkout before you pay. If a price is displayed in error, we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full rather than honor the error.

Payment is processed by our payment provider. DOP Antiques does not store your card details.

Delivery

We ship from our New Orleans showroom on scheduled white-glove routes. Delivery is arranged for the size, handling needs and destination of each piece, and the regional amounts we publish are flat rates, subject only to the exceptionally-large-order terms below. Marble and stone pieces travel with extra protection and careful handling, at no additional charge. Scheduled showroom pickup is free by appointment. Delivery dates are scheduled, not guaranteed, and pieces are delivered rather than installed.

Exceptionally large orders: for exceptionally large or bulk orders, if the documented carrier quote exceeds twice the flat-rate shipping charge shown at checkout, DOP Antiques reserves the right to request an additional contribution toward delivery costs. We will provide the quote and proposed adjustment, credit shipping already paid, and obtain your approval before collecting additional payment or dispatching your order. Any additional charge will not exceed the remaining delivery cost, and we claim no right to charge your card without your approval. If you decline, you may arrange pickup, use your own carrier, or cancel the affected purchase for a full refund — including its shipping charges and applicable taxes — without cancellation or restocking fees, notwithstanding any final-sale or nonrefundable-shipping term elsewhere in these terms. That option also applies to custom and final-sale items, and for custom orders any shipping adjustment is resolved before production begins. This threshold triggers a review and a request for your approval; ordinary orders are not repriced.

Genuinely exceptional oversized pieces are marked Special Handling on the product page before you add to cart and are quoted in writing first. Mirrors and chandeliers are delivered, not installed; have any antique fixture installed by a licensed electrician.

Risk of loss passes on delivery. Inspect your piece on arrival, keep all packaging, and tell us immediately if there is transit damage so a claim can be made.

Condition as described

Antiques are sold as found, in the condition described and photographed on their product page. Patina, old repairs, shrinkage cracks, period hardware wear and the marks of use are expected characteristics of age and are not treated as damage or grounds for return.

Anything beyond honest age is stated in the listing. If a piece arrives materially different from its description, contact us and we will make it right.

Returns

Return eligibility depends on whether a piece was inspected in person before payment. Purchases completed after a showroom inspection are final sale at payment. An eligible retail purchase made remotely, without prior inspection, may be returned when we receive a return request within 48 hours of documented delivery — that deadline is for contacting us to request authorization, not for the piece arriving back with us; once authorized, you have seven calendar days to have it collected by an approved carrier. A fixed 10% restocking fee applies to preference, fit and change-of-mind returns, and shipping-related charges are nonrefundable. The return terms presented when your order was placed govern that order; this revised 48-hour window does not shorten the return window of an earlier order.

Wholesale and resale purchases are final sale. Approved trade-discount purchases follow the same inspected-versus-remote eligibility rules, and any refund is based on the amount actually paid.

All returns require prior authorization — email contact@dopantiques.com before returning anything, as unauthorized returns cannot be accepted. Transit damage, receipt of the wrong item and material misdescription are handled separately, are not charged a restocking fee, and are not cut off by the 48-hour voluntary-return request window; nor does that window waive rights that cannot lawfully be waived. Declining a requested additional delivery contribution on an exceptionally large or bulk order is also handled separately: that cancellation is refunded in full, including the shipping charges and applicable taxes on the affected purchase, with no cancellation or restocking fee, even for a custom, made-to-order or otherwise final-sale piece. The full policy, including cancellations and pieces that are always final sale, is on our delivery and returns page.
